The Project MFG Maritime Welding Competition is a welding-focused competition comprised of individual community focused qualifying competitions and a National Championship. The first and second place winners of each Maritime Welding event will be invited to attend the National Championship.

For 85 years, Ingalls has designed, built and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. The largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, Ingalls is simultaneously building four classes of ships.
The Community College of Philadelphia’s Career and Advanced Technology Center located in West Philadelphia. The project involves the design of a technology-rich facility of approximately 75,000 SF focused on various manufacturing disciplines including CNC manufacturing, energy, and trades training, a robust welding lab, with additional advanced specialized industry equipment.
Tide water Community College’s Skilled Trades Academy in Portsmouth, VA offers hands-on, state-of-the-art instruction on the latest industry tools and equipment in the following fields:
Project MFG teamed up with the Hawai’i State Department of Education, Ku`i Hao, the Department of Defense, and U.S. Navy to host a Maritime Welding Competition and career exploration day at the Hawai’i Carpenters Apprenticeship and Training Fund in Kapolei, Hawaii. This event aimed to raise awareness of local career opportunities in maritime manufacturing like welding, machining, and logistics.

Students will also have the chance to connect with innovative companies and industry leaders in the submarine shipbuilding supply chain.
