Project MFG designs and executes several tournament-style competitions across the country to demonstrate the abilities of new talent and collectively inspire a movement to restore America’s industrial base.
Our competition series feature single and integrated manufacturing technology competitions that highlight CNC machining, welding and additive manufacturing.
These competitions were designed to test the student’s ability to think critically, manage resources, and demonstrate skill and competency in their repective manufacturing technologies.
In addition to the chance to win money, scholarships and prizes, Project MFG competitions expose students to the many rewarding career opportunities that exist in the skilled trades. Many students walk away from our competitions with job offers due to our competitions highlighting their abilities and connecting top talent with companies looking for the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
Is your school up to the challenge?
Advanced Manufacturing is a team competition testing a combination of integrated manufacturing processes that may include 5-axis CNC/Machining, Additive, and Metrology.
Schools may submit 1 team per school. Teams are comprised of 3-6 team members and challenge student’s ability to think critically, team work, manage resources, and demonstrate skill and competency in their repective manufacturing technologies.
This competition consists of a qualifying round project where the top teams will be invited to compete in a Regional competition. The top Four teams from Regionals will then move on to compete at the National Championship for a chance to win $100,000!
Team Competition (1 team per school)
$100,000 – First Place
$50,000 – Second Place
$25,000 – Third Place
National Machining League is a high-school level individual competition testing CNC/Machining skills up to 3-axis surfacing. Schools can submit up to 3 students to individually compete and challenge each student’s ability to think critically, manage resources, and demonstrate skill and competency in machining.
This competition consists of a qualifying round project where the top individuals will be invited to compete in a National Championship for a chance to win $10,000!
Individual High-School Level Competition (3 students per school)
National Championship Prizes:
$10,000 – First Place
$5,000 – Second Place
$2,500 – Third Place
National Welding League is an individual competition. Schools can submit up to 3 students to invividually compete and test their welding skills. Students will compete in two project-based challenges that evaluate their capabilities in fit-up, joint preparation, and the quality of the final weld.
This competition consists of two qualifying rounds with the top-performing participants being invited to compete in a National Championship, for a chance to win $10,000!
Individual Competition (3 students per school)

$5,000 – Second Place
$2,500 – Third Place
Project MFG’s Maritime Welding competitions expose students to the many rewarding career opportunities that exist in their local area in the skilled trades. By focusing on the development of new talent, Project MFG is able to attract new talent to the skilled trades and work to restore America’s industrial base.
The top-performing participant from each event will be invited to compete in a National Championship, for a chance to win $10,000!
