National MAchining League scoring hubs
We were excited to introduce a new addition to the National Machining League series this season: the Scoring Round. Five Gene Haas Centers across the U.S. including WSU Tech, Bridgerland Technical College, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Southwestern Illinois College, and Calhoun Community College were selected to host in-person scoring hubs.
Students and instructors were invited to their nearest location to tour the facilities and experience the scoring process firsthand. These events pulled back the curtain on how projects are evaluated, bringing the competition to life while connecting participants directly with industry-leading training centers.
At each scoring hub, projects were evaluated on site, and the top three highest-scoring projects earned the opportunity to advance and compete in the National Machining League Championship.

Hawaii instructor Upskilling
Earlier this month we hosted an instructor workshop in Kapolei, Hawaii at the Hawaii Carpenters Association Training Fund, bringing together educators from across the islands for a hands-on training focused on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). The workshop gave instructors the opportunity to sharpen their welding skills, share best practices, and explore new ways to bring hands-on learning back to their classrooms. It was an energizing day of collaboration, skill-building, and connection, all centered on supporting educators as they prepare the next generation of skilled trades professionals in Hawaii.
