APRIL IN REVIEW

International CNC Competition in Portugal

At the beginning of the month, six schools from various European regions gathered at the Gene Haas Center for Manufacturing Skills, Training, and Innovation in Portugal for the Project MFG International Machining Competition.

Throughout this 3-day competition, the environment was electric with the spirit of friendly competition driving the participants to excel and innovate. The event not only tested their technical skills but also their teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and time management. All 6 teams did an outstanding job working tirelessly and showcasing their skills in precision machining and their ability to push their boundaries and work hard.

Maritime Welding Competition in Connecticut

On April 29th, we partnered with SENEDIA and Electric Boat to organize a Maritime Welding competition and Career Discovery event at Grasso Technical High School in Connecticut.

The competition saw participation from 24 students representing six local high schools. These students competed with each other to secure a spot in the 2024 National Welding League Championship, scheduled at Penn Tech in June.

Alongside the competition, we also organized a career discovery event that turned out to be a huge success. Over 100 students from Connecticut and Rhode Island attended the event where they got an opportunity to interact with local professionals and industry experts.

We would like to give a huge thanks to the following companies that actively participated in this event and took the time to engage with the students.

General Dynamics Electric Boat, SENEDIA, BlueForge Alliance/BuildSubmarines.com, Habco Industries, LLC, Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Collins and Jewell, A/Z Corporation, Obris Sibro, Inc., ReadyCT, Westerly Education Center, and Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board.
